Emptiness

The intention behind this photo was the show of the lines that the blind creates. In this dorm it's impossible to have complete darkness yet because the room is not facing north there is never direct sunlight, so the minimal sun showing through the blind captures the sun. The original photo had more washed out colors where they sort of blend together and nothing contrasted each other. For the composition of this photo I wanted the light to be the main focal point so I cropped the sides of the image, I left it aligned as I did not want to crop the chair out as it adds an interesting aspect. For the Camera Raw edit of this photo I enhance the blue and green to bring out the colors that are present in the photo. I wanted this to be a darker image so I decreased the exposure and increased the blacks. I increased the highlights as well to make the sun shine brighter.

The intentions for this photo were to create symmetry with the lines and add perspective that keeps the massiveness of a ferris wheel. I chose this image because it was visually pleasing but needed work to achieve my intentions. The original image was off center and had a lot of negative space, the white balance was also off as it did not reflect the sun correctly. For the composition of the photo, I stood in the center of the Ferris wheel to ensure I had the right distances for capturing the perfect size. Afterward, I cropped the picture to ensure that the ferris wheel was perfectly centered. Utilizing the straighten tool, I adjusted the image to achieve perfect symmetry. In Camera Raw, I warmed up the photo to enhance the sun's reflection on the white structure, creating a more inviting atmosphere. Additionally, I increased the contrast between the bright whites and deep blacks, making the image more visually pleasing.

The primary objective behind capturing this photograph was  the striking contrast between the vibrant red house and the green mountain background. The original photo contained numerous extra elements, including trees, bushes, and a distracting tree shadow. To refine the composition and accentuate the focal point, I cropped out all extra elements, ensuring that the house remained the central focus of the image. I also cropped a portion of the sky, as its intense blues were overpowering and distracted from the overall visual impact. In using Camera Raw, I heightened the vibrancy of the greens and yellows in the image, amplifying the natural colors of the landscape. I also adjusted the contrast to bring out the details of the plants in the foreground, while lowering the blacks to intensify the contrast between light and dark areas.

First Snow

The primary objective behind capturing this photograph was to encapsulate the beauty of a winter landscape and highlight the stillness of the lake. I chose this photo because it shows the beauty of the first snowfall of the year and its peacefulness. The original photo, initially lacking vibrance, almost resembled a black and white image, failing to accurately represent the scene as it truly appeared. Furthermore, the foreground detracted from the captivating background. To refine the composition, I cropped out much of the foreground, eliminating distracting elements while preserving a portion to provide depth and perspective to the scene. Additionally, I cropped part of the tree so it would align the edge of the photo. In Camera Raw I increased the yellow tones of the white balances to add warmth and contrast into the photo, counterbalancing its initially low contrast appearance. I also used the dehaze tool to clarify the highlights around the mountain. Finally, I heightened the blacks in the image to create a contrast between the tree and the white surroundings.
